Another year of trying to figure out this whole “adulting” thing… I’ve enjoyed my time at home, new opportunities at work, and expanding my community. I checked a couple of fun concerts and skydiving off of my bucket list this year. I’m looking forward to ringing in the new year by moving in to a new apartment and traveling with friends.
I’m grateful that I get to spend my days working with wonderful seniors down in Dana Point. My role allows me to meet residents in their day-to-day life, build relationships, and hear stories. Highlights include: daily walks to an ocean overlook, group trips to Target, and unintentionally learning a multitude of songs from the 1930s-’50s.
This April, I presented my Cal Poly senior research project at the Western Psychological Association Convention in Portland, Oregon. It was a great experience learning and conversing with professionals and students about new research and my project on Alzheimer’s disease. It was so much fun having Amy along as my travel buddy for the trip!! Special shoutout to Cousin Jason for being our knowledgeable tour guide.
I have had the privilege of leading a 2nd grade Bible study this year and last. I absolutely love serving God and the kiddos in this way. In addition, I have joined a small group of my own and am exploring other ways I can get involved with community in the year to come.
